• Low cost. The sensing bead itself is a very
low cost component, typically one-tenth that of a platinum
RTD element.
• High resistance. Base resistance of thermistors
may be several thousand ohms. This provides a larger
signal than RTDs with the same measuring current, negating
leadwire resistance problems.
• Point sensing. Thermistor beads may be pinhead
in size.
• Interchangeability within a specific range.
• Rugged. The packaged thermistor bead is vibration
resistant.
